NOTICE FROM RTA: March 2011
Dear resident/business operator,
Re: Installation of a 12.5m and over truck length restriction on Bunnerong Road from Wentworth Avenue, Eastgardens to La Perouse
Installation of a ‘No Left Turn vehicles under 12.5m and buses excepted’ restriction on
Wentworth Avenue at Denison Street, Eastgardens
The Port Botany area poses significant challenges when trying to balance the needs of the local community and
the road transport industry.
The volume of heavy vehicles travelling to and from Port Botany is continually increasing in order to meet the
demand for the supply of goods to a continually increasing population, particularly in metropolitan Sydney. To
help retain the amenity of roads in the area, heavy vehicles are being encouraged to use Foreshore Road to
access Port Botany.
The Hon. Michael Daley MP, as chair of the Port Botany Working Group, has raised a number of
recommendations made by this group, with the Hon. David Borger, Minister for Roads. As a result, the NSW
Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) will implement:
• A 12.5 metre and over truck length restriction on Bunnerong Road from Wentworth Avenue, Eastgardens
to La Perouse.
• A ‘No Left Turn vehicles under 12.5 metres and buses excepted’ restriction on Wentworth Avenue for left
turning vehicles at Denison Street, Eastgardens.
Please see a map overleaf of the proposed arrangements.
These restrictions are scheduled to commence on Friday 1 April 2011.
It is important to note these restrictions are not intended to restrict deliveries to businesses or the operation
of buses along Bunnerong Road, Beauchamp Road or Denison Street.
Government agencies apologise for any inconvenience caused as a result of the implementation of these
Signs noting the changed truck length restrictions will be installed by the RTA and changes will come into effect
from Friday 1 April 2011.
For further information, please contact the RTA project manager Francois LaRue on (02) 8849 2329 during
business hours or email Francois_LaRue@rta.nsw.gov.au.
